Description
Still the simplest Crystal Report viewer with data refresh on the market, now upgraded to use the latest SAP Crystal Reports 2020 engine plus a few extras.
For each release, our focus is to extend functionality without compromising ease of use. If you don’t use the new stuff, it won’t be visible in normal use, so no clutter!
To make life even easier, all the versions are available from this one page. Select the version you require and the number of licences. We recommend buying the most recent version unless you specifically need an older version to add to existing licences.
The 2024 release has extended the command line functionality.
- Run a report without viewing. Just specify the destination filename and the report format(s) and the report will be automatically run. The database logon will be taken from the configuration settings. Formatting will respect the defaults you’ve set in Crystal Reports.
- Email a report without viewing. Extending the previous option, specify email address(es), cc, bcc, subject and email body. The SMTP server settings will be taken from the configuration settings.
- Simple report scheduling. Using 1 & 2 with a a scheduler such as Windows Task Scheduler allows you to create simple report schedules. There’s no support for parameters (yet).
2022 was a minor update with a few bug fixes and an upgrade to the latest Crystal engine.
New features for 2021 (compared to 2020):
- Export to text. I’d not noticed that the runtime no longer allowed export to a plain text file. Now added to the report viewer form. Just set the default export format in Crystal Reports.
- 32 bit is back! 64 bit only in rptView 2020 made my life much easier. Didn’t work out so well for my customers! Both download links available on purchase.
- Latest version of Crystal runtime – Now using the SP30 release for the latest bug-fixes and full Crystal Reports 2020 compatibility.
Features beyond rptView free:
- Snapshots – keep an unlimited number of copies of your report with saved data for later viewing. Great for comparing this week to last etc.
- Multiple database usernames & passwords – The older versions were limited to just one global username and password. This was to keep the user interface as simple as possible. We think we’ve been able to introduce support for different passwords by database without introducing complexity.
- Latest version of Crystal runtime – Now using the SP33 release for the latest bug-fixes and full Crystal Reports 2020 compatibility.
- History of reports viewed.
- Frequent reports – list of reports sorted by how often you view them.
- Cached report information – no delay when starting the application as all the information is loaded into a local cache.
- Keyboard shortcuts – Print (CTRL-P), Refresh (F5), Export (CTRL-E)
- Direct emailing of reports in pdf format. You no longer need to export then start your email client. Needs MS Outlook.
It’s just £10 per named user (+VAT in UK).
Licence limitations – RptView uses the Crystal Reports runtime. If you have a licence for Crystal Reports, you’re fine for all situations. If not, you can only install on a Windows PC, not any form of remote desktop.
